My working style is practical, positive and respectful of differences in values and beliefs. I believe that there is a relationship between the mind, body and emotions. The treatment methods and theories I draw from include Emotion Focused Therapy, Family Systems, Attachment Theory and Humanistic Theory. When appropriate I may also use Cognitive-Behavioral, Gestalt, body-oriented and hypnosis therapies.
It is common for problems to overlap. For example, grief may coincide with depression or be part of the process of letting go of an addiction. Similarly, depression may accompany codependency and anxiety may overlap with symptoms that adult children of alcoholics may have.
Once you begin the counseling process it is important to make sure you feel comfortable, understood and at ease with your therapist.
Each individual brings strengths into therapy and I look for these and include them in the counseling process.
No matter what may bring you to therapy, I am committed to helping you with your concerns. |
